Modes
Camera modes usually define HOW you are using your camera.
Most cameras have an automatic mode that decides all the settings
for the user, this is usually in green lettering or has a green rectangle
or icon. Some modes don't have a dial to select them, meaning you
have to start by pressing some kind of button
Some common shooting modes:

Manual |
Allows the user to change ALL the settings
within the camera.

Program |
Just like Automatic mode, except the user
can over-ride certain settings like flash, iso, and exposure
compensation.

Priority |
Allows user to set the aperture and the
camera sets the corresponding shutter speed appropriate to
the lighting conditions.
