Gallery
Paper
Part of making art is being able to creatively interpret an
idea into a visual or sensorial
experience that can be digested by an intended audience. To
ensure the greatest chance of success it is important that
artists have the ability to intelligently critique work for
its values and its faults. This method of critique
strengthens an artists ability to understand and evaluate the
basic concepts that form the foundations of ideas and their
transformation into visual media.
Your Assignment:
You are to visit any venue in order to view art work on display.
This means any Gallery, Museum, or Art Show that exists expressly
to display art. You are to then write a one page (typed) paper
giving me your opinion on one aspect of something
related to the show. This could be an artist, a piece of work,
the venue itself, your experience over-all, etc.
Your opinion can be positive or negative, but make sure it
is an opinion and not a book report describing every aspect
of the show. The first paragraph can detail the "who, what,
where," then I want your opinion, the "why and how".
