Dry Mount Project

Dry mounting is a skill used to permanently adhere an image to a stiffer mounting board using dry mounting tissue and ironing it to a PH nuetral mounting board.

Do Not use matt board! The paper top sheet does not have the same nuetral PH that archival mount board has and will yellow your prints over time. It will also press any surface texture into the print.

Don Not use any spray adhesives or glue; these are wet mounting processess.

Dry mounting can be used structurally to give the image support in, or out, of a framed presentation, or it can be used purely as a presentation device.

Dry mounting is a good skill to know because many photo shows or contests require that you submit work already mounted. Because many other shows require that you don't mount images, I only have you do one mounted image to show me that you have learned the skill. This will save you money, time and ultimately the possibility of having to make more prints later.

Due at the end of the semester as indicated by your schedule.
